The School Spirit Color Run is intended to help unite the community around Upshur County Schools - a day for fun, companionship and celebration of our public school system. Tennerton PTO, in collaboration with several other elementary PTO groups, will host the event at Buckhannon-Upshur High School on September 12, 2026. All public schools in the county will be invited and encouraged to participate.

What is a Color Run?
A Color Run is a non-competitive, untimed fun run where participants wear white clothing and get splashed with vibrant, non-toxic colored powder made from dyed cornstarch at various stations along the route.

The Core Experience
Focus on Fun: There are no winners, prizes, or timing chips. It is designed for walkers, joggers, and people of all fitness levels and ages.

The Color Stations:
As participants pass certain milestones along the course, volunteers toss bright powder at them, turning the crowd into a walking rainbow.

The Finish Festival:
The event ends with an after-party featuring music, dancing, and food/snacks.

We hope to encourage community businesses/volunteers to man the “color stations” as well as host some fun activities. PTO groups will set up snack and water stations.

While the event will serve as a fundraiser for the elementary PTO groups who participate, our hope is that it will be much more than that. We hope that it will be an opportunity for the community to come together and support our local schools!
