Public Hunting

Hunting native, wild game is a popular activity in the West Virginia mountains.  Avid hunters will relish the excitement as they hunt whitetail deer, turkey, squirrels and other wildlife. Visitors can get a Hunting License with the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources.

James Curry Park: Approximately 250 acres in southern Upshur County is available for public hunting use.  The property, known as the James W. Curry Park and Brooks Hill, has whitetail deer, turkey, squirrel and more native game. Hunters are required to have a valid hunting license and a permit from the Upshur County Commission – call 304.472.1673 for more information.

Stonecoal Lake Wildlife Management: Stonecoal Lake property encompasses 2,985 total acres of forests and hunting opportunities.  Available game includes whitetail deer, squirrel, turkey and waterfowl.  Stonecoal also features a 550 acre lake for fishing & boating.

Wildflower Cottage

The Wildflower Cottage at Mountain Paradise is an open floor plan space with 2 bedrooms / one bath in the WV Mountains. The cottage is located in the Mountains of WV, with Wildlife viewing at it’s best! Just minutes from the Buckhannon River and a Pond on property. Cottage is located 10 miles out the Alexander Road in French Creek.

Oren + Folk sits on 62 private acres. The barn is located less than 20 minutes from Buckhannon, West Virginia. The 11 acre field can accomodate outdoor ceremonies, yard games, and a bonfire!

Accomodations include tables and chairs for up to 100 people. There are two dressing rooms, two public bathrooms, and one private bathroom connected to a dressing room.
